There is nothing that I hate more than when people use the words “curvy” and “fat” interchangeably. Now don’t get me wrong, I think the word fat is very inaccurate and shouldn’t be part of our vocabulary. But when people try to replace it by using the word “curvy” it just pisses me off. Not all bigger/chubby women are curvy and not all curvy girls are bigger/chubby. There is nothing wrong with being either but they are not the same. Being curvy means you have a big butt and big boobs. Do you have to be overweight to have that? No. If you’re overweight, does it necessarily mean you have a bigger butt/ boobs? NO. I’ve seen plenty of bigger women with a flattish chest/ behind, yet they’re still referred to as curvy. If you look for something like “how to dress your curves” you’ll most likely to get an array plus size models, and only about half of them will have actual curves (again, some people can be both, and some of the nicest curves I’ve seen are in plus sized models).
Now I understand that we need to find a new word for “fat”, because no one is fat, people have fat. All people. Skinny, curvy, or chubby, everyone has some fat. I don’t think that a person can have so much fat that they just become it. Everything else: their personality, their wonderful sense of style, their interests, their cute quirks, a gorgeous head of hair, what they enjoy doing at night, all the love in their hearts, etc. just disappears, and they simply become the “fat”. That’s just impossible.
In conclusion, t’s clear we need a new word for “fat”, but please don’t just borrow it from an already existing body type. :)
